Read the latest update from Director Marty Fort:
Happy October, Academy families!
In case you missed it, 2023 is an exciting year here at the Academy. It marks the 20th Anniversary for Columbia Arts Academy, the 10th Anniversary for Lexington School of Music, and the 5th Anniversary for Irmo Music Academy! Thank you to everyone who came out to our 2023 Anniversary Fall Ball on the Koger Lawn. We had balloon artists, games, the Brain Freeze Food Truck, and of course, MUSIC provided by our talented students!
A special thank you goes out to everyone who participated in our Battle of Cans Food Drive! According to Harvest Hope Food Bank, Fall Ball attendees donated 110 pounds of food! Check out some of the photos from the Fall Ball below, and click here to see the full gallery!
Students and Families, there is only ONE MORE WEEK to sign up for our January 2024 Winter Recitals! The recital link will close and there will be no more recital sign-ups taken after Tuesday, October 31st, 2023! Our recitals are always invitational and never mandatory, but we would love to see you perform!
The January Recitals will be held at the W. W. Hootie Johnson Performance Hall in the New Darla Moore School of Business on the following dates:
Week 1:
Friday, January 12, 2024
Saturday, January 13, 2024
Sunday, January 14, 2024
Week 2:
Friday, January 26, 2024
Saturday, January 27, 2024
Sunday, January 28, 2024
To make it easier for you, we have created an entire recital page with the sign-up form and general information; including performance schedules, parking information, and maps. Follow the below link to sign up for the recital and see the FAQ: www.columbiaartsacademy.com/recitals. This sign-up allows us to notate the students who wish to perform so that we can create the recital schedule. We are unable to accept any requests for performance dates or times. The official schedule will be released in November!
Please note that students must be actively enrolled in continuous lessons for October, November, December, and January to be eligible to perform to ensure they have ample time to prepare. There is no recital or participation fee for our recital, nor do we charge for admission, as we want every student to have the opportunity to perform and share the experience with their loved ones. Please let us know if you have any questions, and we look forward to seeing everyone perform in January!
Students, families, and teachers - thank you again for an amazing 20, 10, and 5 years of making music, and we are excited for the future!
The Columbia Arts Academy, Lexington School of Music & Irmo Music Academy are the only music schools in the Midlands that gives their students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets (kids and teens love them!), trophies AND certificates for passing musical tests with the Musical Ladder System®. It was actually created by academy Director Marty Fort. It has been awarded multiple patents and is being used by schools nationwide.
Do other schools offer trophies and certificates? A few. But none of them inspire their students with smiling faces by giving them full color, really cool "Musical Ladder System®" wristbands that they can show off to their friends.
Please Welcome the our new students who registered in October!
