Read the latest update from Director Marty Fort:
Happy September, Academy Families!
In case you missed it, we’ve been voted the Free Times Best Place for Music Lessons for ELEVEN CONSECUTIVE YEARS! This incredible recognition wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of our amazing students, the unwavering support of their families, and the hard work and passion of our talented teachers and staff. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your continued support—we can’t wait to rock even more this year!
Save the Date! Our first-ever Fall Ball was such a success that we just had to bring it back! If you missed out last year, now’s your chance to join the fun. Expect games, crafts, a food truck, and, of course, live performances by our talented students.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 20th, 2024, from 12 PM to 4 PM at the Koger Center for the Arts. Interested in performing? Send us an email at [email protected] to secure your spot on stage. We can't wait to see you there! Check out some photos from last year’s Fall Ball below:
Don’t forget, recital season is right around the corner! We’re excited to announce that sign-ups for our 2025 Winter Recitals will begin on October 1st. These recitals offer our students a fantastic opportunity to showcase all the progress they’ve made. This year’s recitals will take place at the W.W. Hootie Johnson Performance Hall in the Darla Moore School of Business. Week 1 will run from January 10th to 12th, 2025, and Week 2 from January 17th to 19th, 2025.
To make sign-ups as easy as possible, we’ve created a dedicated recital page where you can find everything you need—from the sign-up form to parking details and event maps. Visit www.ColumbiaArtsAcademy.com/recitals for all the latest updates. We can't wait to see you at our 2025 Winter Recitals and enjoy some fantastic live music from our students and teachers!
A big shout-out to Gregory from the Lexington School of Music for earning his black belt in Karate! Way to go, Gregory—we’re so proud of your hard work and dedication!
Do you have a special skill or accomplishment you’d like to show off? Whether it’s sports, art, community service, or something else, we’d love to hear about it! Share your achievements with our staff at your next lesson, and you might be featured in an upcoming newsletter.
Whether you’re just starting your musical journey or you’ve been with us for years, we’re excited to continue creating, learning, and performing alongside you at Lexington School of Music, Irmo Music Academy, and Columbia Arts Academy. Not a student yet? We’d love to have you join us! Get started by visiting www.LexingtonSchoolOfMusic.com, calling or texting us at 803-996-0623, or stopping by to visit us at 226 Barr Road, Lexington, SC 29072—we’re open seven days a week!
The Columbia Arts Academy, Lexington School of Music & Irmo Music Academy are the only music schools in the Midlands that gives their students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets (kids and teens love them!), trophies AND certificates for passing musical tests with the Musical Ladder System®. It was actually created by academy Director Marty Fort. It has been awarded multiple patents and is being used by schools nationwide.
Do other schools offer trophies and certificates? A few. But none of them inspire their students with smiling faces by giving them full color, really cool "Musical Ladder System®" wristbands that they can show off to their friends.
Please Welcome the our new students who registered in September!
Many teachers have sold out. If you need a schedule change or would like to be added to a waiting list for a particular teacher, day or time, please contact any of our office staff team and they can add you to the waiting list. If you are not a student yet there are still limited lessons spots available.
